Beach, Boardwalks and Open-Water Fun

Some people see the beach as a place to spread a towel out on the sand, lie down and bury their faces in their phones for the day. You can certainly do that here in Atlantic City, but when you can go surfing, parasailing or fishing, why pass up the chance to create a story of your own? There’s more than one reason Atlantic City has the most fun beaches around. The Boardwalk offers shopping and dining while the ocean is a prime spot for water sports.

Surfers should head down to the Downtown Beach at Raleigh Avenue, Crystal Beach at New Hampshire Avenue or the Delaware Avenue Beach. Surfing lessons and gear rentals are available.

Kayakers and Windsurfers are permitted at the Jackson Avenue beach only.

Fishermen can try their luck from the jetties located on Maine Avenue or the inlet off the boardwalk, or surf fishing on the beaches during non-bathing hours (10 AM - 6 PM).

Swimmers, it's hard to resist the rolling waves on Atlantic City beaches for body surfing and body boarding - but please stay safe.  Swim only when lifeguards are present.  Atlantic City Beach Patrol is on site daily from 10 AM - 6 PM in the summer. See current guarded beaches and beach conditions reports (seasonal) at safebeachday.com.

If you’d like to stay on shore, you can always get a game of volleyball going, build sandcastles with the kids or break out the metal detector for a treasure hunt. Getting thirsty? Enjoy one of Atlantic City’s great beach bars or open-air restaurants for drinking and dining in an idyllic setting. Beachfront hotels and resorts provide beautiful and comfortable places to stay each night, both for families and couples looking for a romantic getaway.

Atlantic City’s beaches are a free and family-friendly vacation destination. Whether you’re looking to travel on a budget or go all out, your trip to AC’s beaches will be the highlight of your summer! Plan your trip to one of the most popular spots on the East coast.
