Pet Industry Trade Show Announces Return to Atlantic City

The Backer Spring Show, also known as the Pet Industry Trade Show, has announced it will return to the Atlantic City Convention Center April 13-15, 2011. The show had been held in Baltimore for the past three years. The show has also reserved dates at the Atlantic City Convention Center for 2012 and 2013.
According to H.H. Backer Associates, the decision to move the show was based on response from buyers to a survey the company conducted in May. Another change requested by survey participants included moving the show to a midweek (Wednesday-Thursday-Friday) schedule. This change makes lower room rates available to the exhibitors and attendees.
Because a majority of the buyers travel by car and live in New Jersey and surrounding states, location was also a critical factor in the decision to return to Atlantic City.
“The decision to move back to Atlantic City hinged first and foremost on what buyers wanted,” said Colette Fairchild, trade show director for H.H. Backer Associates. “Buyers wanted a venue that’s easy to get to and more affordable overall, especially in light of the current economy.”
“We’re very happy to have maintained a good relationship with this show, and we look forward to seeing them back in Atlantic City next year,” said Gary Musich, vice president of convention development for the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority. “The cooperative atmosphere with our hotel partners has contributed to helping bring this show back and to keeping our other annual shows here. The growth in the Atlantic City market with new restaurants, shopping, event venues, entertainment options and hotel rooms has been a real asset, too.”
Exhibitor information for the 2011 show will be available in early August at www.hhbacker.com . Buyer information will be available on December 15.
