The Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority (ACCVA) is pleased to announce that Alfred R. Scerni, Jr. Esq. was appointed by New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine as the Chairman of the ACCVA Board of Directors.
“Mr. Scerni’s extensive knowledge of the area and his experience in government, business and law will be an asset to our organization. We look forward to working with him in marketing Atlantic City,” said Jeffrey Vasser, president of the ACCVA.
"I am grateful to Governor Corzine for this appointment and the confidence he has placed in me,” said Scerni. “This is a very exciting time for the Authority. The recently signed legislation giving ownership and full responsibility for the Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall to the Authority presents many challenges and I look forward to working with the Board and staff in meeting these challenges."
Scerni served as New Jersey Assemblyman for the 2nd Legislative District from 1990 to 1992 and has also held several state appointments, including general counsel to the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.
He is currently the managing attorney of the Atlantic City office of the Parker McCay law firm. His legal experience includes serving as an assistant prosecutor for Atlantic County, as well as a number of municipal appointments as a solicitor, special counsel and hearing officer.
He currently resides in Galloway Township, NJ, with his wife, Dee.
