ALERT! The Atlantic City Airshow will take place rain or shine as long as the cloud ceiling and visibility are within Federal Aviation Administration minimums for flying aircraft. There is no rain date for the show. The AC Airshow has never been cancelled in its eight years in Atlantic City.

The Atlantic City Airshow "Thunder Over The Boardwalk," is one of the most popular events in Atlantic City, and one of the very best air shows  in the country, with its heart-stopping feats, aerobatics maneuvers, formation flying and solo routines by military and civilian pilots.

"Flying Fearless" Celebrating the Centennial Anniversary of Airshows in New Jersey

The 2010 Atlantic City Airshow “Thunder over the Boardwalk” is scheduled for Wednesday, August 25 – and it comes 100 years after Atlantic City and Asbury Park hosted New Jersey’s very first airshows. The "Flying Fearless" exhibit will feature duplicates of Atlantic City Free Public Library Heston Collection and Asbury Park Public Library photographs from 1910. Those visiting the physical exhibits can see enlarged shots of aviation pioneers Glenn Curtiss and Walter Brookins flying high above the Atlantic City skyline and beach.
 
Exhibits will take place at the following locations (please call ahead to confirm viewing hours):
  • Atlantic City International Airport (Terminal Building), Egg Harbor Township, as part of the Artport program.

Getting Here: Click here for Transportation options getting to and around Atlantic City
  • Atlantic City is easily accessible via Route 30, Route 40/322, or Exit 1 off the Atlantic City Expressway.
  • The NJ Transit rail system can be accessed from nearby Hammonton, Egg Harbor City and Absecon, with trains arriving at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Due to expected high ridership, attendees are advised to allow extra travel time, purchase tickets in advance to avoid long lines, and travel light.
  • Travel Advisory: On Wednesday, August 25, 2010, NJ TRANSIT will operate additional service on the Atlantic City Rail Line to/from the Atlantic City Air Show. Please check back for updated train schedule.

  • Early arrivers may want to try the South Jersey Transportation Authority lots on Fairmont and Atlantic Avenues; or the New York Avenue garage in Atlantic City.
  • Park 'n Ride at Bader Field, courtesy of JCC Katz, in association with AC Jitney Association:
    • $10 per car includes parking and shuttle to/from AC Boardwalk, beginning at 6:30 a.m. on day of airshow and continues until 6:30 p.m.
    • Pickup at Bader Field at the end of each row of cars; drop-off at Boardwalk, near Albany Avenue

  • The Atlantic City Airshow is free to the public and can be viewed between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from anywhere on the Atlantic City beach and Boardwalk.
  • Those wishing to view the Airshow from the ocean are welcome, but should be aware that there will be a "no boat zone" restricting boaters except for the U.S. Coast Guard, police and other marine units, from approaching too close to the Atlantic City beach.

  • A handicap viewing area will be available at the pavilion at Montpelier Avenue and the Boardwalk. There is a handicap accessible ramp on Montpelier Avenue. Space is limited and will be restricted for those in wheelchairs that cannot access the beach. Handicapped parking will be available on Albany Avenue, which has an accessible ramp for entrance onto the Boardwalk.

What to Bring:

  • Wear light clothing
  • Snacks
  • Bottled water
  • Cameras and binoculars
  • Sunglasses
  • Beach attire including umbrellas, hats, and bathing suits
  • Earplugs for young children 
  • Radios to tune into AM 1400 WOND for the Atlantic City Airshow broadcast or Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG for Gary Guida's broadcast from the Boardwalk.
